Help Me Choose

Not sure which capacity you need?

Answer a few quick questions and we'll shortlist suitable models from the catalogue above. This is guidance to start the conversation, not an engineering guarantee — room shape, insulation, ceiling height, occupancy and window area all affect the ideal capacity.

Room size
Does the room get strong direct sunlight for most of the day?
Is the room on the top floor, directly under the roof?
Do you want heating for winter as well as summer cooling?
What matters most to you?

Room Size & Capacity

A rough guide to AC tonnage

These are general starting points, not guaranteed engineering calculations — the right capacity for your room depends on more than floor area.

Small room

Up to ~120 sq ft

Example

Single bedroom, study

Commonly used

~1 Ton

Medium room

~120–180 sq ft

Example

Master bedroom

Commonly used

~1.5 Ton

Large room

180+ sq ft

Example

Living room, hall

Commonly used

~2 Ton

What else affects the right capacity

  • Direct sunlight through windows for much of the day
  • Wall and roof insulation
  • Ceiling height
  • Number of people usually in the room
  • Number and size of windows
  • Whether the room is on the top floor, under the roof

Why Mitsubishi Electric

Engineering you can rely on

Decades of inverter engineering

Mitsubishi Electric manufactures its own key AC components — inverter power modules, compressors, propeller fans and DC motors — rather than sourcing them from third parties.

Long, comfortable airflow

The Cross-Flow Fan design, first introduced by Mitsubishi Electric on a room air conditioner in 1968, is built to deliver airflow up to 12 metres for larger rooms.

Built for Indian conditions

Models in this range are rated for high outdoor temperatures — from 46°C up to 52°C depending on the model (see each product page) — with protective coatings such as an indoor-unit anti-corrosion coating (MSZ-HZ) or Blue Fin condenser (MSY-JZ) on selected series.

R32 refrigerant

The current range uses R32 refrigerant across the line, in line with current industry efficiency and environmental standards.

Understanding the Specs

A plain-language guide to AC features

What does "inverter" mean on an AC?

An inverter AC continuously adjusts its compressor speed to hold the room at your set temperature, instead of switching fully on and off like older ACs. This generally means steadier temperatures and lower running cost over time.

What is ISEER and star rating?

ISEER (Indian Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is the official efficiency measure used for BEE star ratings in India — a higher ISEER generally means better energy efficiency for the same cooling output. The star rating on each product page is taken from Mitsubishi Electric's official specifications.

What is cooling capacity, and why does it matter?

Cooling capacity (measured in Watts, often converted to 'Tons') is how much heat the AC can remove from a room per hour. Matching capacity to room size and heat load is what keeps a room comfortable without the compressor working harder than it needs to.

What's the difference between a Hot & Cold and a Cooling Only model?

A Hot & Cold (heat pump) model like the MSZ-HZ series can also warm the room in winter, in addition to cooling in summer. Cooling Only models (for example MSY-JZ, AG-Z and most of the Akabishi range) are dedicated air conditioners without a heating mode. Each card says which one a model is.

What does the MRP include?

The MRP shown is for the complete air conditioner (indoor and outdoor unit, plus the panel for cassette models) and is inclusive of all taxes. Installation, copper piping, stands and other accessories are quoted separately. Where a model shows "Contact for Price", ask us and we'll confirm the current price.

What is Auto Restart?

If there's a power cut, Auto Restart brings the AC back on with its previous settings once power returns, instead of needing to be reprogrammed by remote.

What does the Micro Particle Catching (PM2.5) Filter do?

It's a filter designed to catch fine airborne particles as air passes through the indoor unit, as part of keeping indoor air cleaner — it is not a medical-grade air purifier.
